christine-ebersole-af2a2e6a656fbc761919a2d80fb23055It’s going to be another exciting season of performances at . The lineup has recently been announced and tickets will go on sale to the general public on September 7th, 2011. (Tickets are already on sale for Friends of Landmark, who also receive a discount.)

“We are very proud of our 2011-12 Season,” said Sharon Maier-Kennelly, Landmark’s Executive Director. “It’s our seventeenth season of programming and in many ways our most ambitious.”

She continued: “We’re continuing with the series that have been very successful for us – Fabulous Folk, Roots Rock, Main Stage Cabaret, Children’s; expanding our Specials and World Beat programs and launching a new series called Reality Rocks featuring two Reality TV Stars: Mark Ballas from Dancing with the Stars and Justin Guarini from Season One American Idol. We’ll also continue to add programs to our Conversations From Main Street Series which begins with An Evening with Philippa Gregory (co-presented by the ).”

Some highlights from the season include Darlene Love, Christine Ebersole, Richard Shindell, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Aimee Mann, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and The Bacon Brothers.

“Our ability to bring these artists to Landmark has grown over the years,” said Maier-Kennelly, who credits WFUV’s John Platt for providing guidance and inspiration. “He has helped brand many of our programs including our Fabulous Folks Series and our Roots Rock Series by hosting these shows with his incredible personal style.”

She cited other factors leading to the venue’s ability to book big-name performers. “We have developed relationships with booking agents who truly understand why their artists would enjoy coming to an intimate space in a historic building in this beautiful harbor town. We’ve made improvements to our equipment – including a new sound board, stage monitors, and lighting – that improves the overall enjoyment for both the performers and audience members.”

“To market the season properly,” Maier-Kennelly noted, “we’ve just launched a brand new website – a redesign that was made possible through the generosity of Beth and Dan Eule. We think the site is beautiful, and hopefully our patrons will find some new features, like audio and video links, helpful in their decisions about whether to purchase tickets for performances. We also have a section of reviews – like the ones that appear on Port Washington Patch – so visitors can read up on previous performances or relive ones they’ve attended.“
